As of 1 March, GLIMSTEDT’s team will be reinforced with former diplomat, ambassador Dr Oskaras Jusys joining the team. Dr Jusys has long-term experience in working for various international organizations, including the United Nations and the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU.
Oskaras Jusys started his diplomatic career in 1990 after Lithuania regained its independence. From 1994, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the United Nations in New York for six years. From 2001 to 2005, he was Chief of Mission of the Republic of Lithuania to the European Communities in Brussels, then Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania (2005 – 2009). From 2009 to 2012, he was Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Before ending his career as a diplomat, he was heading the United Nations, International Organizations and Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

Oskaras Jusys holds a Doctor’s of Law degree. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Vilnius University. In 1985, he was invited as a visiting scholar by the Columbia University Law School in New York. From 1981 through 1990, Dr Jusys was teaching students at the Faculty of Law of the Vilnius University.
Dr Jusys has been awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania and the Gold Cross of the Medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Merits to the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service.
