District Image Development
A joint project launched by Paternus Terra, an investment company, directed at developing the regional image of Belarusian districts. GLIMSTEDT is responsible within the framework of the project for developing the investment image of the regions. The project was launched in 2011 and resulted in two round tables held in Mogilev and Gomel. GLIMSTEDT lawyers explain the state bodies' principles of communication to foreign investors and the challenges of doing business in Belarus from the investor’s point of view.
Improving Laws
Since 2009 GLIMSTEDT has been an active member of the working group of the Foreign Investments Advisory Council under the Government of the Republic of Belarus which is in charge of improving the legislative environment for investment in Belarus. The Council is the platform for dialogue between the Belarusian government and advisers on how the business climate in Belarus can be improved, and GLIMSTEDT lawyers personally participate in drafting the laws.
GLIMSTEDT is taking part in a joint project run by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus and the magazine “Lawyer” to prepare suggestions for improvements to investment legislation and for ways to stimulate business activity.
“Doing Business” research
GLIMSTEDT is a legal expert and annual contributor to the World Bank and IFC’s business climate research publication “Doing Business” for the Belarus region and to “Women, Business and the Law”.
Universities
GLIMSTEDT is a sponsor of the Belarusian State University Moot Court Team.
GLIMSTEDT actively organises internships and legal experience for the students of the leading law faculties of many Belarusian universities.
